Blairstown Police Department

The uniformed Patrol Division is the most visible division within the Blairstown Police Department. The patrol division is under the direct supervision of the Officer-In-Charge of the department. The Patrol Division is responsible for responding to all calls for service within the township. The Patrol Division is also responsible for the enforcement of all local, county, and state laws involving criminal offenses. They also perform many service functions ranging from investigating traffic accidents to numerous types of public assistance requests from citizens.

The Patrol Division currently utilizes four marked police vehicles for patrol within the township.

All police vehicles are equipped with a variety of equipment including but not limited to:

• Digital Mobile Video & Audio Recorders to assist officers in capturing violations of both criminal and motor vehicle law
• Emergency Medical Equipment including Oxygen and Automated External Defibrillators
• Fire Suppression Equipment
• Traffic Radar
• Traffic Crash Investigation Tools
• Crime Scene Investigation Tools
• Mobile Data Terminals
• Emergency Traffic Control Equipment

Speed Radar Enforcement

The patrol division is also responsible for the deployment of a Decatur Radar Trailer (pictured on the right). The Radar Trailer is used for conducting speed control in high risk areas and in areas requested by township residents. The Radar Trailer has a two digit, 18" inch amber display to notify oncoming traffic of their current speed. The trailer also included a radar based data logger so that a statistical report can be generated for every deployment of the unit. The statistical report aids the department by providing data to determine whether or not increased patrols are needed in a specific area for speed radar enforcement.
